I’m an Oakwood newborn photographer, and I’m so excited to share this sweet in-home newborn session with you today. The Kilmarx family reached out to me to book a portrait session for their new baby girl, Mylah, and it was such a pleasure working with them to document these irreplaceable early days.
Justin and Savannah recently welcomed their first daughter, Mylah, into the world. I love in-home newborn sessions for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is the personality and comfort they bring to the final images — nothing recreates the feeling of a family’s actual home.

For busy parents, the days following a new baby’s arrival can feel like a blur of sleepless nights and constant adjustment. Packing up a diaper bag and rushing to a commercial studio space is usually the last thing anyone wants to add to their plate. Before Mylah’s session, Savannah and I actually discussed renting a separate studio space, out of concern that their home might not have enough natural light. Mylah’s nursery ended up being stunning — filled with sweet, personal details like custom blankets and a beautiful mobile hanging over the crib. We were able to capture a light, bright, airy look entirely within their own home, which meant Mom and Dad never had to worry about travel, packing, or an unfamiliar setting during an already exhausting stretch of early parenthood.

We move entirely at your newborn’s pace, building in plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, and simple snuggles in between shots.
