I’m an Oakwood Newborn Photographer, and I’m so excited to share this sweet in-home newborn session with you today! The Kilmarx family reached out to me a while ago to book a portrait session for their sweet babe, Mylah. It was such a pleasure working with them to document these irreplaceable early days.

Justin and Savannah recently welcomed their first daughter, Mylah, into the world! I love in-home portrait sessions for so many reasons, but the biggest reason is the personality and comfort it brings to the images.

Originally, Savannah and I discussed renting a separate space due to concerns about natural light. However, as long as we have one decent-sized window, your photos will turn out beautifully! Mylah’s nursery was absolutely stunning, filled with darling details like personalized blankets and a beautiful mobile over the crib. We easily captured a light, bright look within their own beautiful home, saving Mom and Dad the stress of travel.

The most important thing for busy parents to remember during a newborn session is to just relax. It is completely natural to feel overwhelmed or stress about how your baby will behave in front of the camera. But remember: your only job is to enjoy your family. My job is to handle the rest.

I will guide you through gentle prompts, help you position your hands, and tell you exactly where to look. We go completely at your baby’s pace, leaving plenty of time for nursing, diaper changes, and snuggles.
