The Shelton Family reached out about doing newborn session after the birth of their infant son, Theo. I just couldn’t wait to work with them! There’s nothing else like a newborn shoot, especially in a client’s own home, to capture those sweet and dreamy early baby days.

In-home lifestyle newborn sessions are one of my favorites ways to work with new infants for several reasons!

For one, the atmosphere is relaxed. When you have a new baby (and an older child, too!), it can be hard to get the whole family out the door! Not to mention, sometimes too much going on can overstimulate the infant and make it hard to have a calm session. Secondly, the informal setting is great for families! Everyone is comfortable in their own home and that adds an element of peacefulness to sessions that I just love. Lastly, and best of all, this type of session allows me to capture the natural and intimate moments of a family together. When everyone is comfortable and relaxed, the magic just happens! And these pictures prove it.

This family was a delight to shoot. Andrew, LeeAnn and their first child, Felicity, were so excited to welcome baby Theo into the family! I just love seeing the looks on their faces while they gaze at Theo, it’s so sweet! You can really feel the love. I especially love seeing how much Felicity just adores her baby brother!

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS!- Kenwood Newborn Photographer

One of my favorite touches in this in-home newborn photography session near me was the blue crocheted blanket that LeeAnn made just for her sweet new little baby boy. Taking some of the pictures in Theo’s nursery was wonderful too. In those early days, parents spend so much time in their babe’s nursery, and this little room ends up holding a special place in their hearts. It’s these small, but intimate details that make in-home newborn photography sessions magical and Theo’s handmade blanket is the perfect example!

(Also, did you peep Baby Theo’s tiny suspenders? So adorable! I love LeeAnn and Felicity’s matching dresses, too. Even more sweet details!)
