Christmas is right around the corner, and that means it’s time to feature a beautiful Dayton Outside Christmas Photography Session! I had the pleasure of working with the Silva family during an early morning Christmas session.

The Silva family is the absolute sweetest and I loved working with them! We met bright and early at a local park to take pictures for Christmas. The little girl, Leonor, is 19 months old and she is the happiest, sweetest, kindest little girl! (Can you tell I’m a big fan? Haha!) She wanted to run all around the park. To be honest, I love working with families with toddlers because this is a great way to get some of the best photos! (And how cute are their coordinating outfits?!)

We also did one of my favorite posing prompts for this Christmas Photography session. I like to call it the “run and hug” and it gets some of the best candid looks from both parents and children! This particular “run and hug” took it a step further than normal, because as Leonor was running to give her mom and dad a big hug, she ran right to her mom! (There’s a reason for the saying “Mama knows best!”)

Mom and Dad are very competitive when it comes to who will be Leonor’s favorite! So, this was a fun, personal touch to capture Dad’s reaction when Leonor just wanted her mom! And of course, Mom’s reaction when she won the day’s competition!

Custom Photo Sessions as Your Family Grows

As a photographer, I love getting to be a bystander and see families grow! Since the last time I worked with the Silvas, Leonor has become quite the Mommy’s girl, and it was one of the sweetest things for me to capture.

You can also tell in the photos with her and her dad that Dad just wants to make Leonor laugh and smile. Look how silly he is with her! Seriously, it makes your heart melt. What a beautiful thing to have both of your parents love you so much that they fight over your attention!

But we had a little secret weapon for this session…. Leonor’s Gigi!

If you’ve been following me for a while, then you might remember Leonor’s spring session with her Gigi! You might also remember that Leonor loves her Gigi! It was a lovely touch to have Gigi come out to the session with the rest of the family and get some sweet smiles from Miss Leonor. This is a great tip for families with toddlers, too! Bring along Grandma or a favorite auntie to help get some smiles from your little!
