Let’s talk about Dayton Ohio fall family photography sessions!

Fall is right around the corner, and it’s time to get planning for your Dayton Ohio fall family photography sessions. Let’s take advantage of all the beautiful fall trees showing off their pretty colors!

WHEN SHOULD WE SCHEDULE OUR DAYTON FALL FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

Now is the time, friends! I only have a limited number of time slots (especially on Saturdays). It’s best to book your session from mid-September to the end of October. I recommend booking your session for the end of September, because the leaves’ colors are at their peak, but the weather isn’t too cold yet! Perfect sweater weather!

Don’t worry if you’re outside the end of September window, though! Your photos will still be amazing, even if the leaves’ color isn’t at their peak. There are plenty of great locations to shoot at that have stunning natural elements, like cat tails and autumn grasses. We will make the best of it!

WHAT ARE SOME GOOD LOCATIONS FOR OUR DAYTON OHIO FALL FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

I have a few favorite locations for this Dayton Ohio fall family photography sessions! Carriage Hill Metropark, Cox Arboretum, and Troy Hayner Cultural Center all have beautiful trees and foliage.

Carriage Hill Metropark (in Dayton, Ohio) is a park that was formerly farm land, and it has a great rustic feel perfect for fall! Cox Arboretum (in Dayton, Ohio) is a beautiful, serene nature park with fantastic, lush trees. Troy Harner Cultural Center (in Troy, Ohio) is an amazing early 1900s mansion with lovely views.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR FALL FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION IN DAYTON?

I have a style guide to share with you, and I’m always happy to give you recommendations for what to wear!

Of course, wearing something cozy and fall themed will give such a great, autumnal vibe to your photos. However, I don’t recommend wearing dark colors, even in the fall, so that your photos will still match my light and airy style! Neutral colors will look amazing against the colorful backdrop of the trees’ colors, too!

Layers will be your friend here, both for the cozy look, and for dealing with the unpredictable Ohio weather! Soft, warm sweaters will look lovely, and long flowy dresses for the girls will be stunning. For the little ones in your family, I love to see them in snazzy outfits for a classic look in your photos.

SHOULD WE WORK WITH FALL PROPS?

If you want an undeniably fall vibe to your photos, we can incorporate some props! A couple of pumpkins and a warm, cozy blanket will instantly up the autumn look. A plaid bandana on your pup or a cute autumn-y bow or bowtie on your little are an easy but impactful way to work some seasonal vibes into your pictures. I can work with other ideas you might have, too!
