I’m a Dayton In-Home Newborn Photographer and I’m so excited to share this sweet session with you today! The Bak family just welcomed baby Grace to their family and everyone was so excited!
This was not my first time working with the Bak family; I got to work with them last year for their daughter Madelyn’s first birthday family session! It was so special to get to work with them again for Grace’s newborn session. This was a custom photo session, combining Grace’s newborn photos as well as family photos with everyone included!
We started with Graces individual newborn photos. Grace loved being swaddled! She just couldn’t help but smile while she was in it, and what a sweet little smile she has! This is one of my favorite ways to shoot newborns because usually it just calms them right down! And of course, it’s adorable. I love how light and bright her individual photos came out! The white swaddles and matching bow were such a good choice for these pictures.
Once everyone was ready, we were able to move into the nursery (actually big sister Madelyn’s bedroom) for all of the family photos. It’s always a bit of a process getting everyone to cooperate and be still for photos! I have a few tips and tricks for this, but Mom came prepared for this session! She had one of the best motivations for George and Madelyn and that was mini marshmallows. Any time they gave the best smile ever, they got some marshmallows. It worked like a charm!
One of the best parts of this session was to see how everyone interacted with each other. There’s so much love and fun here! You might be able to tell that Madelyn is a daddy’s girl, which was so cute to watch! She wanted to be right by her daddy’s side the whole time. I also loved watching Mom with baby Grace. There’s nothing as special as a mother’s love for her child, especially when you can see it in her eyes. And of course, the fascination that older siblings have for their new baby sister or brother. It’s always so fun to see how excited they are about their newest family member!
At the end of the session, I could tell that Grace’s big brother and big sister were about done with photos, so we snuck in one last set of photos. They didn’t even realize that their photos were being taken! All I did was ask them what their baby sister was doing in her crib, so they ran over to see, and we got some of the cutest photos of them looking over the crib at her!
This session was so fun and so full of love. Thank you to the Bak family for trusting me yet again to capture these beautiful moments of your family. I love working with you, and I can’t wait to do so again in the future.
If you want to book a newborn family session of your own, reach out to me here. I would be honored to work with you!
Talk soon, Janelle
