I’m so excited to share this Mommy and Me Photoshoot with you today! When Melissa reached out about having some photos taken with her daughter, Myla and her mother, Kendra, I just couldn’t wait to work with them! I love doing Mommy and Me sessions. There’s just something so sweet about the bond between a mother and her daughter, and it’s even sweeter when there’s three generations involved!
The weather was beautiful for this session! We started bright and early to catch the light, and it was a little chilly, but no one seemed to mind!
Myla is a little ray of sunshine! She’s so exuberant and I loved getting to capture this. She wore her favorite pink sneakers (it had to be these shoes, she insisted!) and her mom’s favorite flower hair bows. She brought her little sidekick, her stuffed corgi named Tuna along with her.
It took Myla a little while to get comfortable with her surroundings in Lost Creek Reserve and the new person with a camera, but once she warmed up, she was a delight to shoot! She loved the big, open field where she got to run around and explore.
(I have an entire blog post dedicated to a stress-free photography session with toddlers!)
She also loved being chased by her Ging. (In case you’re like me and you’re wondering where on earth “Ging” came from, Myla couldn’t say “Grandma” when she was younger. Ging was all that she could manage, and it stuck!) Most of all, she loved getting kisses from her mama and grandma.
Melissa told me that she wanted to have photos taken because she wanted to remember this stage of Myla’s life (and hers!) forever. Bright, happy, curious and not a care in the world. It was also important to her to have her own mother there! Melissa and Kendra are best friends, you can see their bond in these pictures! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: There’s nothing like the bond between a mother and a daughter.
And this, my friends, is one of the greatest reasons why I do what I do – To capture the beautiful moments of life that you’re in so that in twenty years, they are as vivid to you as they are while you’re living them. It can be hard to remember to stop and take photos of your family, especially when you’re busy living life! All the more reason to have family pictures taken for you. These pictures will be so precious to you now and later in your life.
Melissa, Myla and Kendra, thank you so much for allowing me to capture these precious memories for you! Your family is so sweet, and I loved being present to see the bond between the three of you.
See another custom lifestyle session with extended family here! And reach out to me if you want to get started on a custom session of your own. I can’t wait to work with you!
Talk soon, Janelle
