CAPTURING MASON'S MOST PRECIOUS MOMENTS

There is something about Mason that just feels like home. Maybe it's the way neighbors actually know each other. The way kids grow up running between yards and riding bikes to the park. The way this community genuinely rallies around its families — celebrating milestones, supporting one another, and creating a life that feels full in all the right ways. Mason isn't just a place people move to. It's a place people choose — intentionally, wholeheartedly, and with their whole family's future in mind.
And when a new baby arrives in Mason, that milestone deserves to be documented with the same care and intention that makes this community so special.
I'm Janelle Peura, a Certified Newborn Care Specialist and motherhood photographer serving Mason and the greater Cincinnati area. I've had the privilege of photographing several Mason families — both in their beautiful homes and in my Cincinnati lifestyle studio — and every single time I'm reminded that Mason families aren't looking for ordinary photos. They want warm, natural, timeless images that tell the real story of those first days. Heirloom artwork that will hang on the walls of their Mason home and stop their heart every time they walk past it.
That is exactly what I create.

Mason Newborn Photographer

Mason families come to me with different visions — and I love that. Some want the ease and simplicity of coming to my studio. Others want to stay home during those tender early weeks. Both are equally beautiful options and I've designed my experience to accommodate exactly what works best for your family.
For families who prefer to come to me, my Cincinnati lifestyle studio is a warm, naturally lit space designed to feel like a beautifully curated home — not a traditional photography studio with stark backdrops and artificial lighting. Every detail is already prepared and waiting for you before you arrive. You simply show up, settle in, and let me take care of everything from there. No posing to figure out, no decisions to stress over — just you, your new baby, and a completely calm and unhurried morning together. My studio is an easy drive from Mason and many families tell me the short drive actually felt like a welcome change of scenery during those early postpartum weeks at home.
For Mason families who want to stay close to home during those first precious weeks, in-home newborn photography is a deeply meaningful and convenient option. There is no rushing out the door, no schedule to work around — I come directly to you. Mason's neighborhoods range from established communities with mature landscaping and character-filled homes to newer master-planned communities with open, modern floor plans and beautiful natural light. Whatever your home looks like I know how to find the most beautiful light in any space and create images that feel authentically, uniquely yours. The nursery you spent months designing. The morning light through your living room windows. The favorite chair where you've spent every late-night feeding. These are the details that make in-home sessions irreplaceable — and they are the reason so many Mason families choose to stay home.
Not sure which option is right for you? That's completely okay — figuring this out together is part of what I do. During our planning process I'll ask about your home, your style, and your vision so we can choose the experience that fits your Mason family perfectly. There is no wrong answer. Both options create warm, natural, timeless images that you will treasure for the rest of your life.

Every Family is Different — And That's the Point

YOUR EXPERIENCE FROM START TO FINISH

Mason families are busy. Between Mason City Schools activities, careers, preparing for a new baby, and everything else on your plate — the last thing you need is another overwhelming project to manage. That's why I've built my entire experience around taking every single detail completely off your plate.
Step 1 — Reach Out During Your Second Trimester
Newborn sessions are best photographed in the first 5 to 14 days of life — when babies are still sleepy, curly, and impossibly tiny. I need your due date on my calendar well in advance so I can hold that window for you. I recommend reaching out as soon as you have a due date, ideally during your second trimester. My calendar fills up quickly — especially during peak seasons — so early booking is important.
Step 2 — Pre-Session Planning
Before your session I send a detailed planning guide covering everything — what to wear, what to expect, how to prepare your home if we're shooting in-home, and anything else that might be on your mind. Not sure which session type is right for you? I'll help you decide. Unsure what to wear? I'll walk you through every detail. By the time session day arrives, all you have to do is show up.
Step 3 — Your Session Day
You show up. I handle everything else. Sessions are completely baby-led and unhurried — we build in plenty of time for feeding, soothing, outfit changes, and all the beautiful in-between moments that make newborn sessions so special. There is never any pressure or rushing. Mason families consistently tell me that the session itself felt like one of the most peaceful mornings of their entire newborn period — and that is exactly what I aim to create for every family.
Step 4 — Your Gallery and Heirloom Artwork
Within a few weeks of your session your gallery will be ready. I then guide you through a personalized design consultation where together we create custom gallery walls, heirloom albums, and framed portraits designed specifically for your Mason home. This is one of my favorite parts of the entire process — watching a Mason family see their images for the first time and realizing what we created together is something they'll treasure for the rest of their lives.

Absolutely. As a Mason Newborn Photographer, one of my goals is to make the planning process simple. During your consultation, we'll talk about your home, your family's style, and the look you love most so I can recommend the experience that best fits your vision. Whether you choose an in-home session or a studio session, your Cincinnati newborn photography experience will be completely personalized.

Do you help us decide whether an in-home or studio session is the best fit for our family?

Yes! Grandparents often play an important role in welcoming a new baby, and I love including them when requested. These portraits become treasured family heirlooms and beautifully document multiple generations together.

Can grandparents be included in our newborn session?

Newborns rarely arrive exactly on their due date, so I only reserve a limited number of newborn sessions each month. Once your baby arrives, we'll confirm your session date to ensure we photograph your little one during those precious first weeks.

What if my baby arrives earlier or later than expected?

Yes. My full-service experience doesn't end after your photographs are created. I'll help you select the perfect images for custom framing, gallery walls, or heirloom albums and offer recommendations based on your home's style and available wall space.

Do you provide guidance on displaying our artwork after the session?

Very little! Most families are surprised by how little preparation is needed. As your Mason Newborn Photographer, I simply look for rooms with the best natural light, and we often photograph in just a few areas of your home. Your family and your connection are always the focus—not having a perfectly styled house.

What should we do to prepare our home for an in-home newborn session?

Of course. Whether it's a handmade blanket, a family heirloom, a special stuffed animal, or meaningful nursery details, incorporating personal touches helps make your Cincinnati newborn photography session even more unique and tells your family's story in a meaningful way.

Can we include meaningful heirlooms or personal items in our session?

After your session, we'll schedule a personalized ordering and design appointment where you'll view your gallery for the first time. Together, we'll choose your favorite portraits and design custom artwork, gallery walls, or heirloom albums that beautifully fit your home and lifestyle.

When will we choose our favorite images and artwork?

The newborn stage is unlike any other season. Tiny features, sleepy stretches, and the way your baby fits perfectly in your arms change within just a few short weeks. As a Mason Newborn Photographer, my passion is preserving these fleeting moments through timeless Cincinnati newborn photography, creating artwork your family will cherish long after this season has passed.

Why should we invest in professional newborn photography instead of waiting until our baby is older?

MORE THAN PHOTOS — A LEGACY FOR YOUR FAMILY

Mason families invest in quality. From the homes they choose in Parkside and Crooked Tree Preserve to the schools they trust with their children's education — Mason families know the difference between something good and something truly exceptional. And when it comes to documenting the arrival of a new baby, exceptional is exactly what they deserve.
That's why every Peura Photography experience is built around heirloom artwork from the very beginning — not as an add-on, but as the entire point. Custom framed gallery walls. Handcrafted heirloom albums. Fine art prints on museum-quality materials designed to last generations. These are not just photos — they are the visual legacy of your family's most meaningful moments.
As a mama myself I know what it means to look at photos of your baby's first days and feel that flood of emotion — the way it all comes rushing back, how small they were, how overwhelming the love was. Mason is a community ranked among the best in the country for families — and the families who live here deserve artwork that honors that. Artwork that your children will grow up seeing on the wall. Artwork that tells them, without a single word, just how loved and celebrated they were from the very first day.
That is what I create for every Mason family I photograph. And I would be so honored to create it for yours.

Mason is one of the fastest growing communities in the greater Cincinnati area, and it's easy to see why so many young families are choosing to put down roots here. With top-rated schools, beautiful neighborhoods, and a strong sense of community, Mason is a place where families truly thrive — and where the arrival of a new baby feels like an especially special milestone. I love serving Mason families and getting to be part of this exciting season of life in such a vibrant, welcoming community.
