Newborn Photography Rooted in Indian Hill's Values

If you're an Indian Hill family welcoming a new baby, you already know that the details matter. From the wooded landscapes and winding roads to the grand estate homes and top-rated Indian Hill schools, this is a community where families live with intention — and where the arrival of a new baby deserves to be documented with exactly that same care.
I'm Janelle Peura, a Certified Newborn Care Specialist and motherhood photographer serving Indian Hill and the greater Cincinnati area. I specialize in warm, natural, and timeless newborn photography for busy families who want a completely guided, stress-free experience — from the very first planning conversation all the way through finished heirloom artwork hanging on the walls of your home.
As a mama myself I know how fast those first days go. The tiny fingers. The way your baby curls into your chest. The completely overwhelming love of those very first moments. That window is so short — and capturing it before it closes is exactly why I do what I do.
I've had the privilege of photographing several Indian Hill families — both in their beautiful homes and in my Cincinnati lifestyle studio — and every single time I'm reminded that these families aren't looking for ordinary photos. They want something extraordinary. Something warm, intentional, and built to last. That is exactly what I create.

Indian Hill Newborn Photographer

Every detail of working with me is designed to feel effortless — because Indian Hill families don't need more to manage. They need someone they can trust completely to handle it all.
Step 1 — Reach Out During Your Second Trimester
Newborn sessions are best photographed in the first 5 to 14 days of life — that sleepy, curly, impossibly tiny window that closes faster than any other. I need your due date on my calendar in advance so I can hold that window for you. I recommend reaching out as soon as you have a due date, ideally during your second trimester.
Step 2 — Pre-Session Planning
Before your session I send a detailed planning guide covering everything — wardrobe, what to expect, how to prepare your home if we're shooting in-home, and anything else that might be on your mind. You will never have to wonder what to do next. I take care of every detail so that by the time session day arrives, all you have to do is show up.
Step 3 — Your Session Day
You show up. I handle everything else. Sessions are completely baby-led and unhurried — we build in generous time for feeding, soothing, and all the beautiful in-between moments. There is never any pressure to rush. Indian Hill families consistently tell me the session itself felt like one of the most peaceful, unhurried mornings of their entire newborn period — and that is exactly what I design every session to feel like.
Step 4 — Your Gallery and Heirloom Artwork
Within a few weeks of your session your gallery will be ready. I then guide you through a personalized design consultation where together we create custom gallery walls, heirloom albums, and framed portraits designed specifically for your Indian Hill home. This is one of the most meaningful parts of the entire process — and one I approach with the same care and attention to detail that Indian Hill families bring to every part of their lives.

Every Detail Handled — Here's How It Works

Studio or In-Home — The Choice is Yours

 In-Home Newborn Photography
Indian Hill homes are primarily large estates set on expansive lots, with architectural styles ranging from traditional and colonial to modern and contemporary — many featuring sprawling lawns, custom interiors, and high-end finishes. These homes are stunning backdrops for newborn photography — and I know exactly how to work with them.
For Indian Hill families, in-home newborn photography is often the most meaningful choice. There's something irreplaceable about photographing a new baby in the spaces that will shape their earliest memories — surrounded by Indian Hill's rolling hills, densely wooded views, and the expansive green spaces visible through the windows of your home. The nursery you designed with such care. The morning light pouring through your living room. The quiet, private world you've created for your family. These are the details that make in-home sessions extraordinary — and in Indian Hill, where every home has its own unique character and beauty, they are especially powerful.
I come to you. I work with your home's natural light and character. And I create images that couldn't have been made anywhere else in the world.
Studio Newborn Photography
For Indian Hill families who prefer the ease and simplicity of coming to me, my Cincinnati lifestyle studio offers a warm, naturally lit, beautifully curated space designed to feel like a real home rather than a traditional photography studio. Every detail is prepared and waiting for you — no packing, no setting up, no decisions to make on the day. Just you, your new baby, and a completely calm and unhurried morning together.
My studio is a comfortable drive from Indian Hill and many families tell me the change of scenery actually felt like a welcome breath of fresh air during those tender early weeks at home.
Not Sure Which is Right for You?
Many Indian Hill families aren't sure which option to choose — and that's completely fine. Part of my process is helping you figure that out. During our planning conversation I'll ask about your home, your style, and your vision, and together we'll choose the experience that fits your family perfectly.

I recommend reaching out during your second trimester. Because newborn sessions are best photographed in the first 5 to 14 days of life, I need your due date on my calendar well in advance. I keep my calendar intentionally small to give every family my complete attention — so early booking is important, especially during peak seasons.

When should I book my Indian Hill newborn session?

Absolutely — and I love photographing in Indian Hill homes. Whether you're in a grand estate near the bridle trails, a restored colonial, or a more contemporary property, I know how to find the most beautiful light and create images that feel authentically yours.

Do you come to Indian Hill for in-home sessions?

Perfectly. Larger homes often mean more beautiful natural light, more architectural character, and more stunning spaces to work with. I've photographed in a wide range of Indian Hill homes and always come away with images that feel like they could only have been made in that specific space.

What if my home is very large — will that work for an in-home session?

Sessions typically run between one and two hours. This gives us generous, unhurried time for feeding breaks, outfit changes, parent and sibling portraits, and all the small precious details that make newborn images so special. We never rush.

How long will our session take?

Absolutely — and I always encourage it. Some of the most treasured images from any newborn session are the ones of the whole family together in those very first days. Siblings, parents, and even grandparents are always welcome.

Do you photograph parents and siblings too?

This is completely normal and nothing to worry about. My approach is entirely baby-led — we simply pause when baby needs to nurse, be rocked, or have a diaper change. Awake and alert babies make for beautiful, expressive portraits too. Every session has plenty of time built in for exactly this.

What if my baby is fussy or won't settle?

After your session I guide you through a personalized artwork design consultation where together we'll design custom gallery walls, heirloom albums, and framed portraits tailored specifically to your Indian Hill home — artwork that honors the beauty and character of the space your family calls home.

What happens after my session?

Every family I've photographed who looks back years later says the same thing — it was one of the most meaningful investments they made during that season. The newborn stage lasts less than two weeks. These images last a lifetime. I truly believe that documenting this moment with intention and care is one of the most important things you can do for your family.

Is newborn photography worth the investment?

Heirloom Artwork for an Indian Hill Home

Indian Hill residents are not looking for digital files that sit on a hard drive and never get seen. They want custom artwork — handcrafted heirloom albums, fine art prints, gallery walls — that becomes a permanent, meaningful part of their home and their family's legacy. Something that tells the story of who their family was in those very first days. Something their children will grow up seeing on the wall and understanding, in a way that no digital image ever could, just how loved and celebrated they were from the very beginning.
Indian Hill boasts numerous architectural styles — from classic European manor-style estates to modern and contemporary homes, many of which have been restored and refurbished to accommodate the finest modern amenities. Whatever your home looks like, I design artwork specifically for your walls — pieces that complement your space, honor your aesthetic, and feel as though they were always meant to be there.
This is what I create for every Indian Hill family I photograph. And I would be so honored to create it for yours.
